JR McNutt

JR McNutt is a force to be reckoned with in Texas Country Music. He is outstanding, his voice and lyrics are top notch. I wish I could put out some of his unreleased music. Man, he is special. Im blessed because he is not just a musical acquaintance, but he is a wonderful person, and a wonderful friend. We did a tour together, across the midwest US from Dallas to Las Vegas, and we got to know each other pretty well on that journey. He has also got to be the funniest guy I have ever been around. Constant jokes, constant laughter, his presence is truly spirit uplifting. Love ya buddy! Y’all check out JR McNutt and his band “Big Spring Band”.

The Road tour was in 2017, so it’s long over and gone, but. . . I would be open to doing another tour with ole boy if I ever go back out on the road. Might not happen anytime soon, but, we might put out a song together in the near future. Im hoping so.

Daniel Haynes

Boy the stories I could tell about Daniel Haynes. Of course I won’t. Because boy the stories he could tell on me. Daniel is like a little brother to me. One of the roughest, toughest, gentle and kindest, all at the same time. He’s a hell of a song writer, and amazing vocalist, and just a blast to be around. Maybe I like to surround myself with talented and hilarious individuals, but Daniel is also hilarious. He played with the band back in 2010 to 2011 and kept us rolling with laughter. He moved on to his own project, and killed. His album with his band 4740 is outstanding. I have the entire album on my playlist, soooo good. Pretend is one of my all time favorite songs. Brilliant writing, brilliant performance, and just amazing. I guess it’s also worth mentioning that he is one of my best friends. Always will be. Dan, I love you brother, you mean the world to me, and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next from you musically. Oh, also worth mentioning, back when he was in 4740, they would play my song “Have A Little Mercy” live at their shows. I like to think of it as a nod with the tip of the cap. Funny enough there is no comment button for a retort from Dan. Guess that’s all that there is to say about that. lol. Maybe one day JR, Dan and Myself will do an acoustic tour together and I’ll let him sing Mercy. Oh man. Too funny.

Colt Evetts

Little Brother, with the harmony voice of gold! Colt joined the band back in 2014 wielding a 4 string bass and a harmony voice like I’ve never heard behind my vocal. So good, so strong, and so dedicated. He was the backbone to our band for many years. He handled stage manager duties, and ran the load crew. He was a staple in our success. He wasn’t ready to hang it up when my voice went out on my New Years Eve night 2018. I lost my voice until August 2019, and he waited, and waited and waited until I finally retired for what I thought was for good. He has had a few projects between there and here including a cover song he did, but I doubt he lets me put up. Colt is one of the good guys in this world. He means what he says and doesnt speak out of turn. He is honest, hard working and can be just as funny as the other 2 goofballs. When the 4 of us are together it’s a crazy time. I have no interest in touring or playing live again if he isnt a part of it. For unnecessary transparency, I will admit, he is the loudest voice pushing for my return to the stage. I can’t say if I will ever play again, but I can say, I won’t be playing if he isnt there by my side. Thats 100% fact jack. It just isnt the same, or any fun for me anymore if he can’t be there. Colt, what’s the verdict man, can I post your Cover song or what?

Donald Evetts Jr

The most instrumental man in my music career has always and forever will be my father. I not only get to carry the namesake (I am the third) but I would have my career with out him and his support. From writing songs like 8 Second Ride, Bud Light Friday Night, Could Have Done Done That and many more. . . to financially helping me get started, to being at every local show I had through the years. I still send him songs today for his feedback, and though he may not write on every song, he certainly give his thoughts and opinions on most songs. What he means to me would take a website in itself, however I’ll keep the monologue on topic, and music related with a funny story. I get my musical tastes from my father. I did not realize I got my voice from him as well. He told me many times that he would sing the track I sent him, and it sounded just like me. I hadn’t heard it with my own ears however. I remember hearing him singing Bohemian Rhapsody growing up, but that doesnt showcase much. Story time, we’re in Nashville recording “ A Beautiful Thing” Album, and I asked him to sing harmonies on one of the songs. He kind of wiped the idea away, spouting he didn't have experience yadi yada. So I asked Ronnie to let me cut a harmony track myself. I purposely went flat and sharp, awful notes, lines out of my range, etc. When I finished the cut both dad and Ronnie were super nice about it, but informed me, maybe I shouldn’t cut the harmonies. That take was indeed awful intentionally, but they were so kind about it. I then asked my dad, I said, be honest was it bad? He said it wasn’t great. I told him, there’s no way you could do it that bad, so get your butt up there and hit it. Gotta hand it to the guy, he stationed the headphones appropriately on his head and sang the song with me. He didnt sing the harmony however, he doubled my track. You can listen to “A Beautiful Thing” over and over and Im telling you, you won’t be able to pick it out, he sounds just like me. But if you wanna try, it’s there on the album in a few places, good luck figuring it out though. Love ya dad.
