One thing about this album, there’s no shortage in length of songs. Usually I wrote songs with time in mind, trying to stay around the 3:40 mark, but this album, I guess I threw that out the window. One thing about it, I know I mentioned on III pt.1 that Were Just Lonely was my favorite song I had ever written, but, Someone Not Gone might actually be my favorite. I just love the music, the story, the line, the idea, I am very proud of it, as I am most of the songs on this album. I would say for sure that I think this is probably my best album up to that point for my writing. I put a lot of my original personal work on this album, and I still am very proud of this album. I also was able to do another Rodney Clawson; Jon McElroy song, those are always great. I was able to release another song my dad wrote. He is such a great writer, I have to make it a point to get more of his stuff on up coming albums. Nobody’s Home is such a great song. Ronnie showed me that songs as a joke, not pitching it, but just to let me hear it. I begged him to let me cut and release it. Finally he agreed and the rest is history. Well, actually one more story. . . I practiced it on the drive to Nashville, I had it down pat, and I had tons of ideas. The ideas I mentioned however, Ronnie wasn’t so sure about. So I made a deal, I said, give me just one track making background noises. One track, one take and you can decide when you edit and mix what you wanna keep or trash it all. So, he played a similar game of high stakes, and left it all in! Even added traffic sounds over my little rant. Yes it was one take, and yes I had written bullet points the night before for that little monologue. Hope you enjoyed the ridiculousness of that ending. I love that song!!!
